Packing Optimization

Hard cap on how many lots can share one box, regardless of size. Default 4 — prevents packing too many fragile items together. Increase for sturdier items, decrease for very fragile.
How much of a box's volume can be filled with items. Lower = more padding / more boxes used. Each lot's Fragility setting picks one of these. Tune from real-world experience.
Stops the algorithm choosing very large boxes for combined-lot packing. Useful for fragile-only shipments where big boxes are awkward and damage-prone. Default No limit. Can be overridden per-quote in the Packing Plan section.

Additional Box Discount

When a quote needs more than one box, the biggest box pays full price. Every additional box is discounted by this %. Default 33% — additional boxes charged at 67% of their full price.
Example: 2 boxes (XL Cube + Medium) = £52.50 + £30 × 67% = £52.50 + £20.10 = £72.60.

Multi-Piece Lot Sizing

When a lot has multiple pieces, this is the % of the entered dimensions used for per-piece volume. Default 70% — assumes the entered dims represent the LARGEST piece and the others average smaller. Lower (e.g. 50) = pieces fit tighter (fewer boxes), higher (e.g. 100) = treat all pieces as the largest size (more boxes). Single-piece lots are unaffected.

Shipping Markup

Applied to the carrier's base rate. E.g. 65 for a 65% margin (default).
Applies only to UK Mainland / UK Islands shipments with more than one parcel. The biggest parcel pays full retail rate; every other parcel is discounted by this %. Default 36% — i.e. additional parcels cost 64% of their normal retail price.
Example: 3 UK parcels, first £10, others 36% off = £10 + £6.40 + £6.40 = £22.80 (vs £30 without discount).
